Next Wave Swim Academy

The Next Wave Swim Academy at the Rush County Recreation Center is a comprehensive youth aquatics pathway designed to support swimmers at every stage—from first water experiences to confident, independent swimming. The academy blends private instruction, group-based progression classes, and structured water fun, ensuring each child is placed where they can succeed safely and confidently.
Programs/Classes are intentionally small to ensure individualized attention while fostering peer learning and confidence. Certified instructors focus on water safety, skill refinement, and positive experiences that help children become strong, capable swimmers.
This program is ideal for children who have completed private swim lessons or already demonstrate basic water readiness.

Private Swim Lessons

Fully customized, one-on-one swim instruction for all ages and abilities. Lessons focus on water safety, confidence, and individual skill progression, with flexible scheduling to meet each family’s needs.

Splish Splash Water Fun Class

An organized, play-based water program for children ages 5–12 who can safely manage shallow water. This class builds comfort, coordination, and confidence through guided water games and structured aquatic fun.

Next Wave Group Swim Class

A small-group swim class for confident swimmers who have completed private lessons and can navigate the water independently. This class focuses on stroke development, endurance, and water safety while keeping learning engaging and fun.

Private swim lessons focused on building water confidence, foundational swim skills, and safety in a supportive and age-appropriate environment.

Program Details

  • 9 private sessions

  • Members: $58

  • Non-members: $72

Scheduling

  • February – May

  • 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month

  • Lesson length: 30 minutes

  • Time: 8:15 AM – 2:45 PM

After you purchase your swim lessons, you will receive a punch card valid for 9 sessions. Our instructor, Grace Jarmin, will reach out to you to schedule your lesson dates and times. You may schedule one session at a time or book all 9 sessions in advance—whatever works best for you.

Build confidence, technique, and water safety through private, paid swim lessons led by our certified Aquatics Coordinator, Zane Spurlock. Each lesson is tailored to the swimmer’s age, ability, and personal goals—perfect for beginners, skill builders, and adults learning later in life.

The Next Wave Swim Class is a structured group swim program for children who have completed private swim lessons and can safely navigate the water independently. This class blends skill-building with engaging water activities to strengthen technique and endurance.

5–10 Minutes | Arrival & Water Readiness
Check-in, safety reminders, and light warm-up movements in the water.
10–20 Minutes | Skill Development or Guided Play

10–15 Minutes | Group Activities
Instructor-led games reinforce skills, teamwork, and listening.
